John Verity is the man and musician who is 'Blue to his soul' and has been one of the most consistent performers on the British blues rock circuit for many years.

John Verity was formerly the frontman with ARGENT and prior to that opening in the USA for Jimi Hendrix and Janis Joplin, amongst many others. Nothing compares to seeing JV live and up close on stage, as John's guitar playing is a joy, whether it be soulful acoustic or driving amplified in style. What marks him out from others is his timing and feel which are close to perfection. John’s words on the release of 'Blue to my soul' which is his 20th solo release, ‘Whatever I do is always going to have a blues/rock edge and I feel that this is the thread which ties it all together’.

‘Great songs, great performances, John not only has a great voice for his material but his exceptional guitar playing almost segues voice and guitar into one.’

‘That voice really sings and the guitar talks. He just gets better and better. How does he keep improving? - The singing, the playing and the writing? – Talent!’

'John Verity is the real deal!'

Support comes from Matt Edwards Band

With 2 successful albums under his belt, Matt has been in the studio again and this tour will be showcasing his brand new album Backward Roots. Having heard the new material recently at Skegness Festival, where Matt played a stunning set, we are definitely in for a treat if you're coming to see him and the band, which features Stuart Dixon on bass guitar and Gareth Batson on drums.

Matt Edwards is a songwriter/vocalist/guitarist, a self-taught multi-instrumentalist and he is inspired by a huge wealth of musical genres from blues to rock, jazz and funk to folk. His style of writing showcases subtle flavours from all styles and gels them into a strong Alternative Blues Rock offering.

Line Up

“A veteran performer at the top of his game – the playing is immaculate and full of passion, as you would expect from one of the UK’s leading exponents of blues guitar”

Come and see John and the guys live and join us for a night of blistering blues with a rocky edge! John Verity has had a varied and amazing career, supporting rock luminaries such as JIMI HENDRIX, JANIS JOPLIN, THE WHO, JOHN MAYALL’S BLUESBREAKERS and MOUNTAIN and recording with RINGO STARR, KEITH EMERSON, GREG LAKE, TIM ROSE, ZOMBIES, COLIN BLUNSTONE, PHOENIX, CHARLIE and ARGENT to name but a few.

Recording and touring constantly, with his distinctive soulful blues edge, 2016 has already been John’s busiest in recent years and especially so with live appearances with his band; a fluid line-up but always with musicians of the highest professionalism and musicality. Continuing in the same vein with dates booked at high profile venues across the UK for this year and 2017, John is pleasing old friends and winning over new fans. Comments from audience members at HRH Blues at Sheffield 02:- ‘For me, John Verity Band were the highlight of the weekend. I didn’t know what to expect but they were awesome! I am now a confirmed Verity fan!’

‘An electrifying gig with brilliant songs and expert playing. Every moment was to be savoured.’ 'I'm listening to John Verity today. I first saw him in Sheffield recently and was utterly stunned and gobsmacked by just how good he is. This guy has the best style and touch - as a player he makes me tingle. I suggest to you all out there- miss this guy at your peril’.

John also found the time earlier in 2016 to record and produce the latest album ‘My Religion’. This was released in April as a CD plus a vinyl double album in June and achieved critical acclaim from respected publications including ‘Blues in Britain’ and ‘Blues Matters’ with airplay on many radio stations including Paul Jones show ‘Nothing but the Blues’ on BBC Radio 2.

Original blues rock singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Matt Edwards is a rising new talent who has been inspired by a wealth of different genres from jazz and rock to funk and folk. He admits that he has learnt just as much about playing guitar from listening to the timing and feel of jazz pianists and drummers as he has from guitar players. This year saw the much awaited release of his second studio album, “Four Berry Jam”, an edgy mixture of rocky blues, tight funk and mellow originals which has received a host of critically acclaimed radio plays and write-ups. - “This is one of those must have albums, ‘Four Berry Jam’ really is something rather special ….” Blues In Britain “Mr Edwards is the sound of the blues for the future …..” Still Got The Blues Radio Show.

Having supported artists such as Ryan McGarvey, Buddy Whittington, Raven Eye and Ron Sayer, and fresh from their success at the Reivers Rock and Blues Festival in May, Matt brings his powerful groove laden three piece line-up to the Half Moon, Putney for their debut appearance.
