Karibow + I Am The Manic Whale

Half Moon - Putney, London

£15 Adv / £17 Door
Entry Requirements: 18+ after 7pm

KariBow, neo-progressive melodic rock, with shades of Marillion and Yes, passionate songs performed in true crossover style, reflecting AOR giants such as Toto, Journey and Asia, blending guitar riffs, hooks, keyboards and drums, and all overlaid by the haunting vocals of lead singer and band frontman Oliver Rüsing.

I Am The Manic Whale are unashamedly a progressive rock band. Whilst making similar timbral choices to many of the great progressive artists, particularly Genesis, Big Big Train, Spock’s Beard and Neal Morse, I Am The Manic Whale hopes to be able to bring something new to the table.

Line Up

With a string of award winning albums, KariBow continue to ‘push the envelope’ with their 2018 releases ‘The Unchosen’, a collection of previously unreleased material, re-visited and honed, to create an enguiling selection of songs that explore the base emotions we all respond to, our connections to the forces of nature, and draw upon the complexities of the human spirit.

The second release from that year served up two contrasting yet challenging set of songs in a 2 cd collection, the first a powerful and moving series of songs, from the introspective ‘Red Feathers’ to the anthemic ‘Elay’, and on disc 2, a sweeping soundscape that immerses the listener into a classic yet unique fairytale that compels you to play it again and again, each time bringing different nuances to this melodic story. With over 20 years of material to choose from, KariBow will be sure to have something for everyone!

Their intelligent thoughtful lyrics touch on a range of unusual and interesting subjects from a fresh modern perspective; from science fiction to the history of printing, from the decay of a derelict swimming pool to the mobile artistic and engineering creations of Dutch artist Theo Jansen, known as Strandbeests.
