LEE HARRIS’S ALBUM SESSIONS PRESENTS: PINK FLOYD'S MEDDLE

Lee Harris, Dom Beken, Yaron Stavi and Ged Lynch unite to perform Pink Floyd’s classic album in full!

Lee Harris, best known for his work with Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets, is launching a new live series celebrating classic albums performed in their entirety in the intimate surroundings of The Half Moon, Putney. Each edition of Lee Harris’s Album Sessions will feature a specially assembled line-up chosen to suit the music being performed.

The first edition of Lee Harris’s Album Sessions will be a performance of Pink Floyd’s Meddle and will also mark the live debut of a new four-piece line-up comprising Lee Harris, Dom Beken, Yaron Stavi and Ged Lynch. The album will be performed in its entirety, accompanied by additional music from the same era of Pink Floyd’s catalogue.

The four musicians bring a remarkable collective history to the music.

Harris and Beken are both members of Nick Mason’s Saucerful of Secrets, the acclaimed group formed to revisit the early music of Pink Floyd. Together they have performed extensively around the world, bringing this material to new audiences.

Bass player Yaron Stavi has a particularly direct connection to Pink Floyd’s musical world. He has recorded and performed with David Gilmour, and is featured on Gilmour’s 2015 album Rattle That Lock. Stavi has also worked extensively with Phil Manzanera of Roxy Music, Robert Wyatt and Nigel Kennedy, as well as performing with leading figures in jazz and classical music.

Drummer and percussionist Ged Lynch has worked with Peter Gabriel since 2002, recording and touring extensively with him, including the acclaimed Growing Up, Still Growing Up and Rock Paper Scissors tours. His credits also include David Gilmour, Goldfrapp, The Charlatans, Electronic, Yusuf/Cat Stevens and Tom Jones, among many others. He contributed drums to David Gilmour’s On An Island album.

This is a unique combination of musicians with deep connections to the music and musicians of Pink Floyd, but without approaching the material as a conventional tribute band.

“Nick wisely said that in Saucerful of Secrets we were not recreating but reinterpreting,” says Lee Harris. “That’s exactly the ethos we’ll bring. We’ll honour the iconic moments that all of us love whilst allowing the music to evolve live, just as Pink Floyd did on stage.”

Meddle Live

Released in 1971, Meddle marked a pivotal point in Pink Floyd’s development, moving from the experimental work of their earlier years towards the expansive sound that would define the band’s classic period. The album will be performed in its entirety with additional music from the same period of the Pink Floyd catalogue.
