Line Up

When lead singer Caspar Wallersteiner began writing the songs that would fire the starting gun for his new band, The Temples Of Venus, it was as an escape. He was escaping from the holding pattern of a teaching job that had become a temporary-turned-permanent fix, as well as a romantic and creative output which was gradually being taken off of life support. To see if there were any signs of life in his songwriting, or if the situation was indeed terminal, one sole directive was followed in this final bout: be honest. In shedding the weight of expectation towards ever performing or putting oneself out there again, that catharsis which comes from making art, not any other purpose but for its own pleasure, was rediscovered. This mindset has carried through to the founding spirit shared by the members of The Temples Of Venus, all of whom are based in London. They each carry with them a similar fatigue surrounding life not only as musicians in this day and age, but also as members of that generation which came of age in the pandemic amidst a backdrop of cynicism and a longing for authenticity, trying their best not to become cynical about it all too. The indie rock sound they have thus come up with is both immediate and sincere, a rebuttal to the post-ironic landscape they inhabit
