‘An exciting new voice… in British folk’ – Music Crowns, 2025

Samuel Taylor is a Suffolk-based indie folk artist. At just 23, his debut EP, Lost & Overgrown, (January 2026) has already been described as a ‘beautiful collection of songs’ by Andrew Davie of Bear’s Den.

Raised in rural Suffolk, Samuel spent his childhood playing in rivers and forests, and teaching himself to play his dad’s banjo from old bluegrass records. After studying contemporary music at college, and discovering his major influences of Bear’s Den, Laura Marling and Johnny Flynn, Samuel began to write his own music. He played his first songs to producer and musician Jesse Quin, bassist in Keane, who signed Samuel to his No Roads Records label in 2025.

Samuel’s first single, Little World, released September 2025, received immediate playlist support from Apple Daily Music and Notion: Undiscovered, and widespread radio play across BBC Introducing (‘Incredible’ – Angelle Joseph), Amazing Radio (‘Beautiful’ – Jim Gellatly) and BBC’s The Beat (‘A great track [that] I haven’t been able to stop listening to, over and over again’ – Dean Jackson).

Atwood magazine said of him: ‘Taylor arrives with a sound that feels both ancient and startlingly fresh, a kind of emotional archaeology that uncovers something deeply human beneath the surface of melody.’
