A brand new night celebrating the very best in emerging talent.

Every week for the past eight or so years, we have been running our New Moon discovery nights. These nights offer up-and-coming artists from around the world the chance to perform on our stage and learn their craft whilst also allowing attendees to see undiscovered, raw talent.

We have hand-picked some of our favourite artists to perform - allowing as many people as possible to witness how much local talent pass through Grassroots Music Venues.

Stranger is an indie rock band formed by a group who met at Exeter Uni. With a sound that blends raw energy and introspective lyrics, Stranger quickly gained a following in the local music scene. Their music captures the spirit of youthful exploration and the unique bond forged during their university years. Driven by their passion for creating authentic and emotive indie-rock, Stranger continues to captivate audiences with their dynamic performances and relatable songwriting.

Hailing from the villages of north cambridge and with northern English and irish roots, matty whelan is london based indie artist drawing on soaring indie arrangements and emotive lyrical delivery made for anthemic sing-alongs.

A 19 year old singer and songwriter who had recently finished her first EP of an indie,pop-rock genre, consisting of 6 songs, Matilda focuses on bringing energy and fun to her music as well as connection and honesty.

Independently playlisted for 3 weeks on BBC Radio 2, played on Channel 4’s Sunday Brunch and picked as a ‘BBC Introducing One To Watch’ artist, Finn then signed to Interval Records (Universal/EMI North) and Jon Ollier (One Fiinix Live) in 2024. At just 22, Jess Burrington is already turning heads with a voice that’s been likened to Sade’s—sultry, sexy, and effortlessly smooth. With a tone that feels both intimate and timeless, she weaves stories of love, loss, and self-discovery into her music, creating a sound that’s as hypnotic as it is heartfelt.

Raised in London, Jess grew up immersed in music, drawing inspiration from the likes of Billie Eilish, Jorga Smith and SZA, while shaping a style uniquely her own. Now, she’s on the brink of a breakthrough with the release of her highly anticipated debut album - a collection of soulful ballads, slow-burning anthems, and poetic lyricism that showcases her undeniable artistry. The lead single, INSOMNIA has already begun making waves, hinting at a future as captivating as her sound.

With her debut, Jess isn’t just releasing music—she’s creating an experience. Sensual, effortless, and deeply evocative, she is an artist destined to leave a lasting mark.
