Hannah Aldridge is back and she’s celebrating the 10 Year Anniversary of her debut album “Razorwire”. This time she brings her band with her, breathing new life into the songs that started her career a decade ago.

Hannah grew up on the muddy banks of Muscle Shoals—her birthright is music and Alabama. A reckoning between her coming-to-age in the South and a lifetime of trying to create an identity outside of it, her songs strike a delicate balance between rebellion and self-discovery. With a voice equal parts gritty and melodic, Hannah took to the road, entertaining crowds in ten countries and three continents with her acclaimed debut album Razor Wire, superb follow-up Gold Rush and Live in Black and White - a beautifully captured live album recorded in London, England.

In 2023 Aldridge expanded her artistic vision with the ambitious, cinematic Dream of America, which was released on Swedish alternative indie label, Icons Creating Evil Art. It peers through the lens of fading Hollywood starlets, charming psychopaths and weary vagabonds - navigating society’s underbelly through dark, romantic vignettes.

Her music treads a fine line between the genial charm of Americana, and the raw, hypnotic and occasionally electronic stylings of what some might like to call ‘noir indie pop’. Deploying a charming blend of power and vulnerability, Aldridge delivers her stories with all the conviction of a church bell ringing out through the streets of a small Alabama town.

Line Up

With every song, Hannah Aldridge is facing down demons of a life once lived from substance abuse to failed relationships and scars from the lashes of the bible belt.

Raised in the extremely religious State of Alabama, Hannah has since young years felt an affinity to the darkness found in the Southern Gothic themes and has developed a fondness of writing songs with elements of horror brought on by dark thoughts of depression or hopelessness. Finding a calling in exploring these heavy-laden feelings and impulses that we all have, but are typically afraid to indulge in she explains,“The devil and darkness were always the boogeyman under the bed for me. It still is honestly. So that naturally weaves itself into a lot of songs. I find it extremely fun to sit and think of what type of song I would write for a particular scene in a movie or subjects that really scare me.”

Mixing her personal life and the sounds of her hometown, Hannah takes influences from across the rock genre. Working with one foot in country music and the other in rock has given Aldridge a fresh kind of Southern Rock styled by Southern Gothic storytelling. The honesty she crafts into each track is offset by her stubborn, even defiant, nature, which gives her music a hopeful silver lining.

Hannah is not only a daughter of the American south but also of the Muscle Shoals legend Walt Aldridge. She launched her career with her 2014 debut ‘Razor Wire’ in which she worked with The 400 Unit (Jason Isbell ) and recorded one of his songs on the album alongside Brad Pemberton of The Cardinals (Ryan Adams). The debut-album drew attention of music critics and sent her touring across the world, the live scene really taking a hold of the singer early on seeing as over the last 7 years she’s played in over 10 different countries. Her second full- length album ‘Gold Rush' features Sadler Vaden (Drivin n’ Cryin’ and Jason Isbell ) and was mixed and engineered by Allen Parker, Chief Engineer for Dan Auerbach of The Black Keys.

Hailing from the vibrant and rich music scene of Melbourne AUS, Katie Bates has a heart steeped in great and spirited American music - from The Flying Burrito Brothers and The Band to Nirvana. But there’s many other things at play in Katie’s music. With heavy influence of the grunge and grit of artists such as PJ Harvey, Garbage and Audioslave and aims to blend both her love for Americana/alt-country with alt rock and grunge. Music you can both two-step and head bang to.

Bates has had a busy couple of years, most recently opening for Melbourne rockers, Kingswood, on the Victorian leg of their massive ‘Hometowns’ tour, and shortly after for Americana singer-songwriter Eilen Jewell (USA). When not playing in her own band, she’s a touring bassist in bands such as Ben Mastwyk & his Millions, Catherine Britt, Dan Brodie, Lachlan Bryan and the Wildes, and USA hailing artists Hannah Aldridge and Ben de la Cour - both of whom she has toured the country with multiple times.

“Sultry, intriguing and provocative, with a sound that turns satisfyingly, defiantly snarling, evoking PJ Harvey.” - Sophie Hamley, Sunburnt Country
