Half Moon - Putney, London

£13 Adv / £15 Door (subject to availability)
Entry Requirements: 18+ after 7pm

On 23rd July 2024, Grammy-nominated singer-songwriter Caolan McCarthy makes his debut appearance at The Half Moon. Backed by his 4-piece band, The Pines, Caolan will play all tracks from his debut EP Paper and Stone as well as covers from bands that have inspired him. Expect Folk Rock, Blues and Americana belters from Ray Charles and Van Morrison to Leonard Cohen and The Band. A full 2 hours of quality musicianship in this world-famous music venue will be the perfect way to spend a warm summer’s evening. And if that weren’t enough, Caolan will also be giving some of his most recent and unrecorded music, their world premiere.

Noted for his infectious Irish wit, artful storytelling and timeless, catchy hooks, this is a night not to be missed. This is Caolan’s first original music gig in London since his sold-out EP launch last November. Early booked is strongly advised.

Caolan McCarthy is an Irish artist who has made a name for himself in both music and acting. He is a Grammy-nominated musician and composer. A classically trained actor, graduating from the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA), he has appeared in theatre productions from the West End to the National Theatre and can be recently seen in films such as Kenneth Branagh’s Oscar-nominated film, “Belfast”.

In September, Caolan released his long-awaited debut EP, Paper and Stone, six-tracks of original music showcasing his talent as a singer-songwriter and pianist. Each song reflects a different aspect of Caolan’s musical influences from stomping pop-rock ballads like “Selma McGlone” to introspective and melancholic country ballads like “The Day” and growling, Blues Rock belters like “Three Men Were Walking”.

Caolan’s acting training and nearly 20 years of gigging has honed his unquestionable gift for audience interaction and ability to develop a deep connection with his audience every night.

A looming presence in every sense, Tootawl’s music is frank, forward, and rich with emotion. Christened ‘too tawl’ whilst in Nashville due to his height, the name stuck, and upon his arrival home he began working as Tootawl.

Since Tennessee, Tootawl has received national radio airplay, toured extensively, and also had his song ‘House On The Moon’ played in an episode of the Netflix original series 'You Me Her'.

Now based in London, he has signed with Max Music Publishing and released his debut self-titled LP in June of 2020, which was called "an excellent debut" by Hot Press.

Recently, Tootawl recorded his second album, Roger Fenton’s Wagon, during the various lockdowns, and it is due for release in May.
