Country In The Afternoon returns on Saturday 18th and Sunday 19th May for its tenth edition with an international line-up that will provide a wide variety of country and americana music over the two afternoons.
Two-time Grammy nominated Kim Richey is a storyteller with a voice so pure, arresting and honest, it literally aches with life’s truths. She transports the listener to a world where words paint pictures and melodies touch the soul, her voice is pure arresting and honest. Over the past two decades Kim has released ten critically acclaimed albums, been listed in the ‘Top 10 Albums of 1999’ in Time Magazine for her album Glimmer, plus received 4-stars in Rolling Stone and named ‘Alt-Country Album of the Year’ in People Magazine for her album Rise. Her 2013 release Thorn In My Heart was named in year’s end best lists by No Depression, The Boston Globe and The Associated Press. She has written two #1 singles and had four others hit Top 10. Her songs have been recorded by Trisha Yearwood, Mary Chapin Carpenter, James Morrison, Brooks and Dunn and many others. She has contributed backing vocals on albums by Trisha Yearwood, Ryan Adams, Shawn Colvin and Jason Isbell to name a few.
With roots from Boca Raton FL, Nashville artist Maggie Baugh started her music career by playing the fiddle on stage with Charlie Daniels when she was 13 years old. Baugh's social media presence is strong, with over 30 million views on her TikTok series “Finish The Lick”. She released her debut album "Dear Me" in October 2023 which gained over 500k streams in its first day. Baugh is a touring musician and has opened for other artists, including Home Free. She recently wrapped up her National Vinyl Store Tour with Taylor Guitars and was announced as part of Tidal's "Rising" Class for 2024. Baugh has new music set to release this year, including her latest single "24" released on January 12th.
Oliver Darling plays Country/Folk Blues and Americana - his sets comprise of covers and originals influenced by artists such as Big Bill Broonzy and Sam Chatmon. His 2022 debut solo release Lee's Blues has received great reviews and extensive airplay. He will be joined at CITA by Rollo Markee on harmonica and vocals. Whilst not doing his own thing, he is guitarist with Imelda May and Geraint Watkins.
Christian Larsmon is an Americana/rock/singer songwriter artist based in South East London. The start of his music career was marked by a performance at a charity concert with his band as support act for Eric Clapton, Mike Rutherford and other rock legends when he was just 16 years old. Christian has been focusing on his solo artist project for the past couple of years and hit some significant milestones in 2023 including a SoFar Sounds performance in Camden and the release of his debut all originals EP “Dark Before The Dawn” in July. Christian describes his sound as ‘if Kings Of Leon, Paolo Nutini, Bruce Springsteen and Cat Stevens had a love child’. His soulful, gritty vocal coupled with his penchant for vivid storytelling and a catchy chorus are bound to make him a bright rising star in the coming years.
