Line Up

Frustrated by the struggles facing new bands in London, The Valla formed in 2019 and decided to try things a little differently. Inspired by the increasingly popular desire for intimate gigs, the boys started playing ‘secret house concerts’, hosting parties and packing out living rooms across London, performing their music to friends and an ever growing fanbase.

Holding the line between pop and rock, The Valla released their debut EP ‘Just Chemicals’ produced by acclaimed producer Andy Hall Hall (Bastille, Fickle Friends, James Gillespie) in late 2019 which was quickly championed by BBC Introducing South and national mainstream German radio station Bayern 3.

In May of 2020 the band released their long awaited house party hit ‘Ice Cream’, racking up 5 BBC radio plays prior to its release and a feature on the homepage of the AU Review. The accompanying Music Video had over 100 fans filmed dancing and singing to the catchy pop tune. To date, the song has accumulated over 100k streams. In July, their next single ‘Shut My Mouth’ was released, receiving four BBC radio plays prior to its release, and saw the band achieving a placement on Spotify's editorial ‘Indie Dancefloor’ playlist.

In December the band released ‘Everything’s Good’, an uplifting love letter from the band to the world, radiating positivity during a bleak time. The music video featured the band covered in glow sticks playing the song in total darkness!

To kickstart 2021 The Valla are taking a step to the left with their new single ‘Kerosene’. An Alternative-Pop track that highlights the boys songwriting abilities and musical maturity as they encompass a number of genres into one hard hitting, infectious break-up song with a twist!

Denney is a singer-songwriter originally from North Hampshire. Since the age of about 11, she has spent her life writing songs and lyrics in diaries and notebooks - pages and pages which she has still kept. It was only in late 2019 that Denney found the confidence to share her music in a public way, with her first self-released single. This sparked a drive to create and release a further nine songs over the last two years, with many more in the pipeline including collaborations with other artists. Through this process, Denney has carved out her signature style of captivating vocal layers, lyrics that read like a diary entry, and soft electronic sounds against traditional pop ballad backdrops.

In the short time that she has been recording music, Denney has gained recognition and receives ongoing support from BBC Music Introducing, with numerous local BBC radio plays and being chosen for ‘Record of the Week’ twice.

Stephen Murphy is a British singer/songwriter based in South London. He grew up heavily inspired by artists such as Jeff Buckley, Bruce Springsteen, The Beatles, R.E.M and Radiohead, which he channels in his music. He started performing regularly in 2018 in London after a lot of interest in his sets at open mic events, at which he played originals and covers on both piano and guitar.

He has performed at venues such as Hard Rock Cafe, The Bedford in Balham and in Summer 2021, had a weekly Friday slot at Pear Tree Cafe in Battersea Park.

He is currently recording his first album which is due early 2022.
