Line Up

Bill has been playing the blues since he was 12. A trip to Austin Texas in 2012 with his sons Ed (drums) and Will (guitar) lead to the formation of Bill and the Blues Kings.

Will got married and went to live in America, where he's still playing the blues.

Bill and Ed have since been joined by Rudyard Burley on bass, and we decided to rename ourselves "The Texas Specials" because we like to play Texas Blues!

The group met during their time at university and have recently rekindled their quirky take on creating electro pop. After years of playing in separate line ups together they decided to form their own, originally called “One Statement Piece” as for each gig they would unify their stage black outfits with a single unified accessory. As they wrote more and more together they decided to pay homage to the building they carried out their work in, a converted paint factory in South West London, and the perfect trifecta’ was born.

Their upcoming single "85975" is scheduled to drop on the 29th March 2019 and challenges the topic of imprisonment and the current judicial system from society's point of view. Paint Factory's constant consensus is to approach difficult affairs. For example, their first track written together "Grey Area" is about being trapped in a self destructive mental process and society's attempt at handling the topic of mental health.

Recently the gang have been working tirelessly to produce more and more content which reflects their message and develops their energetic and engaging live shows.

Collectively they draw upon influences from the likes of The 1975, Wolf Alice, Foals, Massive Attack & Tune Yards while continuously striving to develop their gigs by utilising various technologies and having dedicated projections time coded in time with their tunes to reinforce their sets.

With plenty in the pipeline, Paint Factory are excited to start announcing more live shows and releasing more music.

osh McGovern’s song writing is an arresting blend of poetic lyricism and powerful musicality, daydreaming Americana and haunting folk sensibilities. The results are beautifully enticing songs of eerie intimacy as found in his two highly acclaimed singles ‘The Devil Below Me’ and ‘Love Left Lost’.

Having grown up listening to artists such as Johnny Cash, Joni Mitchell and Neil Young, McGovern was drawn to writing deeply moving and easily connectable songs, and by studying the melodic attributes of these luminaries, developed his beautiful style of song writing.

Having built up experience and support, he recently recorded his singles ‘Love Left Lost’ and ‘The Devil Below Me’ with Ben Thackeray, who has worked with the likes of Nick Cave and Patti Smith. Along with his band, McGovern recorded the tracks at Retreat Studios, where Nick Cave recorded the majority of his album Skeleton Tree, which he describes as “one of my favourite albums.”

Josh McGovern has received early strong support from BBC Introducing and critical acclaim from the likes of The Independent, who described him as “An accomplished, intriguing new talent”. He has sold out headline shows across London and his Brighton hometown, carving out a dedicated following of fans and critics alike, and he looks set to make even more of a statement throughout 2019.

Meet Mabes, Billericay’s answer to Kasey Musgraves. At 23 years-old, Mabes has been working in construction whilst writing songs and performing them in pubs in her spare time. Her music is shrouded in folk-inspired riffs, country twangs, and a distinctive delicate vocal.

Having worked with producer Hugh Worskett (Birdy, Michael Kiwanuka) she's finally ready to release her first EP in 2019.

Award Winning Australian Singer/Songwriter Tamara Stewart is returning to the UK in March, April, May 2019 to tour her much anticipated new album “The Truth, The Music and Me”.
