The Big Band of The Cardinal Vaughan School, with several guest vocalists, return to the Half Moon for afternoon of swing and big band favourites.

There has been a Big Band at the Cardinal Vaughan School since 1997 and the past twenty years have seen it perform at many leading jazz venues including Ronnie Scotts, The 606 and several times a year at the Bull’s Head in Barnes. It made its first appearance at the Half Moon two years ago and its January visit has become something of a fixture for the Band now. Winners of several youth music awards and having played at all of London’s major concert halls, the Band has toured in the US, Europe and the Far East, and worked with several jazz legends, most notably the Cuban trumpeter Arturo Sandoval. Join them for an afternoon of swinging Big Band favourites as these talented young people develop their love for jazz and entertain all at the same time!

Line Up

The Big Band of The Cardinal Vaughan Memorial School present a lunchtime show of swing music, joined by several guest vocalists. Six times finalists in the National Festival of Music for Youth, the Vaughan Big Band has toured in France, Spain, Holland, the USA and Hong Kong. The Band has played at many of London’s leading jazz venues including Ronnie Scott’s and the 606 Club as well as performing at all of London’s major concert halls including the Royal Albert Hall and the Barbican. It has enjoyed a special relationship with the Bull’s Head in Barnes even since its founding in 1997, appearing several times each year.

The Band has also worked with jazz singer Salena Jones, Yellow Jacket star Bob Mintzer, tenor saxophonist Wayne Escoffery, saxophonist and composer Jason Yarde and most recently with trumpet legend Arturo Sandoval.
