Robert J. Hunter
Dirty rhythm & blues from the depths of Alderney, Channel Islands. Island born Robert J. Hunter, now based in London combines his gruff and powerful voice with the wild thud of overdriven blues guitar.
His powerful debut album, ’Songs for the Weary’, received blues chart success and critical acclaim and the single release, ‘Demons’, reached number one in the UK iTunes Blues Chart.
‘Before the Dawn’ followed late 2015 showing that Robert had matured and developed as a singer, songwriter and instrumentalist. 'Before The Dawn' also shared in chart success, and is still reaching further audiences. Recently in the Independent Blues Broadcasters Association Top 40.
Following that, a solo release, demonstrating not only the versatility of Robert’s musical ability but also the diversity in his songwriting. ‘Where I’m From’, released December 2016 through, Spiritual Records.
His forth studio album will be released in 2018 with his new single, 'Wait Your Turn' set for release on the 17th November 2017. Robert continues to be a prolific writer and dedicated live performer
In 2017 Robert was a finalist in the International Songwriting Competition (ISC) with his powerful ballad, ‘Preacher’ which was chosen from 16,000 entries. Following his set at The Great British Rhythm & Blues Festival 2017, The Robert J Hunter Band were chosen as the fifth and final act to compete in the UK Blues Challenge at Liverpool‘s legendary, Cavern Club.
Robert has previously supported acts including Wilko Johnson and The Animals and has played top venues around the country including Ronnie Scotts Jazz Club and the Spiritual Bar in London. He is a regular performer at the London blues jams and clubs as well as performing in Europe and all around the UK.
Inspired by The Faces, Rory Gallagher & Taste, Jon Spencer Blues Explosion, The Black Crowes Tom Petty and more. Robert J Hunter is rooted in blues but takes his inspiration from all realms and should not be pigeon holed into a particular style and there is a considerable amount of variety across his work. No release is the same the last.
This is a road worn, dirty blues band that’s been honed to super tight perfection by sheer hard work and volume of shows.
Freddie Long is singer/songwriter from a small town near Brighton. Moving to London a few years ago Freddie has been working towards his debut EP which is set to be released later this year, working with the likes of Tobie Tripp, Tom Mish’s guitarist/guest writer and Oliver Som.
