As the son of a songwriter and musician, Grant has been writing and performing music since the age of three. After studying popular music in his native Australia and honing his craft while singing on cruise ships, Grant released his first EP, Like a Lion. Promotion of the EP took Grant around Australia, and he has since caught people’s attention on various stages at the Brisbane Australia Day Festival, The National Folk Festival, Woodford Folk Festival and the Foodies Festival. Grant is now based in London, performing music for a living. With a three-piece band now behind him he is recording his next EP, Conversations, planned for release in early 2018. Grant’s understanding of poetry can be heard throughout his songs, and his ability to create phrases that sit well on the ear as well as the tongue makes his songs broadly accessible and highly memorable. The authentic nature of Grant’s music lies in his command of sophisticated harmonies and rhythms, and throughout his work you can hear influences of John Mayer, Allen Stone and Earth, Wind & Fire.
An acoustic act, just Andrew and a piano. A style in the mould of classical singer-songwriters like Sara Bareilles, Andy Grammer, and Rufus Wainright. Andrew's work has been commissioned all over Europe and Asia including choral pieces in South Africa.
Twenty-two year old singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from London. Zak comes from a family rooted in the same craft and tradition where he now finds himself. Headed by grandparents, Richard and Linda Thompson, followed by Teddy Thompson and Kami (The Rails), Zak is the third generation to take up the mantle and has been said to be the “natural continuation of the family tradition of musical excellence” by Folk Radio UK.
Although the British folk music of the 60’s and 70’s is at the core of Zak’s influences, the roots music of America and 50’s country music are the largest building blocks on top of his traditional British foundation. This has resulted in a transatlantic style whilst maintaining his “British-accented melancholy” as put by Uncut’s Jim Wirth.
Performing from a young age after picking up the guitar at age 11, Zak honed his skills playing at some of London’s most prestigious venues such as the Royal Albert Hall and the Royal festival Hall all by the age of 14. Since graduating school, Zak has predominantly worked as an instrumentalist for award winning band ‘The Rails’, Sunny Ozell and his uncle, Teddy Thompson
In 2015, Zak and his family released the album Family, a collaborative project in which each member of the extended family wrote and recorded two songs - from wherever they live. This meant that recording took place from Los Angeles to London, then the final product was produced by Teddy in New York. It was released in early 2015 under the name Thompson. In late 2016 he released his debut E.P “Against the Grain”.
Zak has been fortunate enough to perform with or open for: Emmylou Harris, Rufus Wainwright, Nick Cave, Johnny Flynn, Martin Simpson, Martin Carthy, Shawn Colvin, Chris Difford, Lisa Hannigan, Loudon Wainwright III, Kate and Anna Mcgarrigle, Boy George, Jarvis Cocker and Kimmie Rhodes as well as frequent collaboration with his family.
