Plume of Feathers
The UK has lost 21,000 pubs since 1980, with half of these closures taking place since 2006. (IEA 2014)
Plume of Feathers is an album based on the decline of pubs in the UK. It’s also about people real and made up who drink in pubs. In a live setting Plume of Feathers mixes a full live band with films for each song by the artist Stephanie Black.
'a really well observed record' - Steve Lamacq 6music 'an excellent record' - Gideon Coe 6music 'brilliant' - Rich Pitt (BBC Introducing)
LOCKS are a waits-infused, skeletal-blues outfit based in North London. After playing with a variety of different bands with genres spanning rockabilly, blues, trad Irish, Celtic punk, indie and nu-folk they found themselves in a rehearsal room together writing parts of murder ballads which see gin drinkers rubbing shoulders with the damned, murderers burying bodies in the back yard and family secrets whispering through the night.
‘Clad all in black, these Londoners treated Paganini Ballroom to some of the darkest, grittiest blues you've ever heard’ BBC Introducing
‘Don't let the traditional instruments fool you, this band set the volume high’ BBC Introducing
‘Simply mesmerising’ Steve Lamacq, BBC6 Music
