“Mixing the twee gentle tones of Emiliana Torrini and the atmosphere and power of Julia Stone, Dixon Hood’s tracks are spellbinding, haunting and truly heartfelt” The Music Brewery
Megan Dixon Hood combines haunting melodies with ethereal lead vocals through her piano folk-infused songs, delivering atmospheric melodies that are creative, yet heartfelt. With songs stepping into the darker side of her music, she is experimenting further with her band to create an enchanting and climatic sound.
Coming off the back of a string of festival appearances including Liverpool Sound City, 2000 Trees and main stage at Glass Butter Beach, Megan achieved success with her first single ‘Early Morning Riser’, which also won ‘Single of the Year’ for Staffordshire and Cheshire Music Awards. After catching the attention of BBC Radio 2’s Weekend Wogan Show, it received plaudits from with in the industry including that of BRIT Awards Winner Rag’N’Bone Man, earning her a support slot with him at Manchester’s Sound Control. Her enchanting sound has been recognised by Caffe Nero, choosing to play two of her songs from her first EP’s to be part of their worldwide Caffe Nero playlist, before inviting her to play Cornbury Festival 2016. The Manchester Evening News recently named Megan no.5 in the top Manchester Bands and Acts to Look out For 2017.
Born in Gothenburg, Sweden Carl moved to London in 2013 to pursue music. The band was created in 2014 together with Joel Tavares on vocals and keys, Vincenzo De Fraia on bass, Marco Casaluce on electric guitar and Niccolò Rebecchi on drums. Since then Carl has taken his music to over 300 shows around Europe.
"Not only he has a unquestionably interesting voice, but he is also a very talented guitarist. His folk/indie style is comparable to Mumford and sons, passenger and Ben Howard all in one."
"This is an act you must find time to see."
Lauran Hibberd, 19, Singer/Songwriter. ‘Still writing songs in my bedroom, and loving every second of it’.
Haven taken inspiration from the likes of Laura Marling and Lucy Rose, the singer - songwriter effortlessly strikes a poetic balance between pop and folk by combining her ethereal vocal with a simple, delicate guitar style.
Beautifully skewed pop - haunting and inspirational, the songs featured here “demonstrate the happiness that comes with sadness. It signifies the purity that comes with youth, and how it slowly disappears into the unavoidable...(love, loss and all that falls in-between)”.
