Mud celebrates 50 years.
Support comes from Vambo who will be launching their new single.
Mud celebrates 50 years in the music business in 2017. The 4 founding members were Les Gray, Ray Stiles, Rob Davis and David Mount. Sadly, Les and David have passed on. The last show played by the original band was in 1978 (at the Greyhound in Fulham) although Les toured his own ‘Les Gray’s Mud’ for some years after.
The current band, featuring Rob and Ray, played just a few selected shows in 2016, after a gap of 38 years…..in the meantime…
Rob, guitar, has become a very successful hit songwriter having written, amongst many others, Can’t Get You Out Of My Head (for Kylie Minogue) and Groovejet (for Sophie Ellis Bexter).
Ray has been a member of the legendary Hollies for the past 31 years and produced their last two studio albums. He now produces Vambo – classic rock - fronted by his son Jack.
Pete Phipps, drums, was an original member of the Glitter Band and more recently the Eurythmics with Annie Lennox and Dave Stewart.
Keith Read, guitar, and a long time friend, was originally in a band called the Wild Angels, a fearsome, true ‘greaser’ rock n’roll band of the early 60s.
Though times have moved on, the band still retains the fun of the original Mud whilst faithfully recreating their hits of the 70s.
